孟昉，字天纬，一作天晔。本西域人，回族，寓居北京。延祐（一三一四--一三二〇）间为胄监生。明敏英妙，质美而行懿，由乡举得举，从事臬司宪部掾枢府，进中书西曹，典国子监簿。元明间回族词人，曾在元为官。有多部作品传世。元曲三百首中收有他的一首天净沙。《滋溪文稿》卷三十张光弼赞许道："孟子论文自老成，早于国语亦留情。"（《寄孟昉郎中》诗）可见其文雄称当时，极负盛名。惜《孟待制文集》今已不传。
